A Warning for the UFC: Missing Records Could Lead to Severe Legal Consequences
In a recent development in the ongoing UFC anti-trust lawsuits, Judge Richard Boulware has issued a stern warning to the UFC, highlighting that the missing cell phones and records could result in 'sanctionable offenses'. The UFC, represented by Dana White and Hunter Campbell, found themselves in a Nevada courtroom facing questions about undisclosed materials in a series of anti-trust lawsuits filed by fighters. These lawsuits, including Johnson v. Zuffa and Cirkunov v. Zuffa, accuse the UFC of using its monopsony power to suppress fighter wages. The cases are being handled together by Judge Boulware, who previously oversaw the Le vs. Zuffa settlement.
The issue at hand revolves around missing communications and records. Fighter lawyers claim that years of communications from key figures like Dana White, Hunter Campbell, and UFC lawyer Tracy Long are absent from the discovery documents. Nash highlights this possibility, stating, "[The judge] could turn to the trial and say... You can weigh it that it's the most adverse to the [UFC] and most beneficial to the [fighters]."
